Going to New York from Ottawa I knew I would pass by Syracuse. I absolutely could not miss out on the opportunity to eat at Dinosaur Bar-B-Que.
I knew this place would be popular, I just didn’t expect it to be THIS POPULAR! Walking up through the crowds of people, the hostess informed us that the wait was at least 1.5 hours (which you know would be way longer than that!). But I was determined to have my taste of Dinosaur Bar-B-Que. So Take-Out it is!
It was cold outside, but it was fine with hot barbeque-goodness! We ordered our meal from the Take-Out counter and sat ourselves down at the picnic tables outside.

Bottled Soda

Bottled Soda

Of course beer would have been perfect with barbeque, but beer make me sleepy. So bottled soda was a great alternative. I love bottled soda, the bottles really seal in the sweet aroma!

Catfish Strips

Catfish Strips

I’d never had catfish before, so I really wanted to try it. The batter was evenly seasoned and deep fried with a great crunch. In my opinion, the flavor of texture of catfish was a lot like cod, so nothing too interesting. But I loved the burst of flavor from the seasoned batter.

Rack of Pork Ribs

Rack of Pork Ribs

What I was most excited about what the Ribs! Oh Dear… I was drooling when I saw the rack of ribs because it had such an amazing glaze and smokey char. I was worried about not being able to cut through the ribs with a plastic butter knife, but the ribs were so tender it was like cutting butter!

The meat was so tender it literally fell off the bone. Also, I could tell the flavor of the dry rub was really infused into the meat. While the top had a smokey glaze and a more charred texture. The barbeque had a bit of kick and a subtle sweetness, I just wish they added more sauce!

Barbeque Chicken

Barbeque Chicken

Let me just say that it’s extremely difficult to cut apart half a barbeque chicken with a plastic butter knife. It was so hard I just started eating it in huge pieces. Luckily, the chicken was so moist and tender that you’d want a huge piece of it. I also liked that it was brushed with a lot of sauce and the smokiness really brightened up the natural chicken flavor.

Sliced Beef

Sliced Beef

The sliced beef was awesome! Notice the lovely pink smoke ring on the edge, just cooked perfectly! The beef was tender and juicy, packed with flavor! Although I dipped it in barbeque sauce, I though the meat alone was extremely flavorful.

Corn Bread

Corn Bread

On the side we had fries and corn bread. Nothing too excited about the fries except that they were hand-cut, but lacked salt. I enjoyed the crispiness and you always been some starch in the meal. But the corn bread was my favorite side! I don’t think I’ve ever eaten cord bread before, but I love it! It’s soft and fluffy, but the top is kind of crisp like a freshly baked muffin top. It was like butter sweet corn in a cakey form.

I wish Syracuse wasn’t so far from Ottawa because I’d love to come here again. It’d definitely one of the best barbeques that I’ve tasted. I’d love to actually sit inside the restaurant and absorb the atmosphere. So hopefully I’ll return for another visit someday;).
