I actually didn’t even know there was a restaurant at the Holiday Inn, but here it is! The decor reminded me of Olive Garden, lots of wine bottles, rustic fixtures, and plants hanging from the ceiling.
The service was a bit lacking that though. Considering that the restaurant wasn’t busy (only about 4-5 tables occupied), the waitress seemed confused and we waited extremely long for our food. Our waitress was very friendly, but I just felt the efficiency could be greatly improved.
Luckily they constantly refilled the board of complimentary bread or else I would have starved. But I love bread, so on the bright side it was great bread! The loaves had a flaky crust with a soft center and fresh garlic spread in the center. So good, I’m pretty sure after all the refills I ate more than a loaf on my own:P.
I wanted to try a variety so I ordered the 3 in 1 express. I really can’t believe it took so long for them to serve this because I’m sure the creme brulee and soup were pre-made.
I really liked the soup:) Possibly because I was so hungry and I was dying to dip some of that garlic bread into the soup! Bread and soup is such a perfect combo. The Minestrone Milanese was packed with vegetables and bold flavors. I could probably eat loaves of garlic bread with this bowl of soup:).
To be honest, the Turkey Wrap was like Thanksgiving in a Roll. The lettuce was crispy and fresh. While bacon really does make everything better; the bacon added that smokey flavor and an extra crunch to the wrap. I’m also a sucker for turkey and cranberry sauce, so one bite and I was sold! I wish it was actual turkey meat, but the slices seemed to be “Deli-fresh” so I was satisfied. There were also lovely grill marks on the outsides, which I always appreciate. Definitely a great wrap, especially for the price;)
With my sweet tooth, I was so disappointed by the Creme Brulee. The caramelized sugar on to was thin and crisp (certainly helped with the flavor). However, despite the sweetness from the top layer, the custard was simply bland. It was like eating air because it really lacked flavor completely (extremely upsetting for my tastes buds). Overall, the 3 in 1 express is a great deal for a light and healthy lunch, but I wish the ending was as good as the beginning.
The service was quite frustrating, but I’ll give it a benefit of a doubt because everyone has their “off-days”. I’d recommend the restaurant for group/family dinners since it was quite comfortable for our large group. However, I said dinner and not “lunch” because I don’t know if you want to take the risk of taking ~2 hours just for lunch!
